SKF Marine, a globally active medium-sized company, decided to introduce the APICON Data Master in order to improve the quality of its master data and make the investment process more efficient. The main focus was on optimizing material master data in order to make processes more transparent and error-free.
SKF Marine recognized potential in master data management and set itself the goal of further increasing the efficiency of processes. One challenge was to achieve better transparency and an overview of the status of the material masters. The working methods of the individual departments called for a system-supported exchange of information to speed up processes. The introduction of the APICON Data Master was intended to increase transparency, reduce manual intervention and improve collaboration between departments through automated workflows.
With the introduction of the APICON Data Master, SKF Marine was able to overcome these challenges. The tool makes it possible to maintain material master data based on rules and to carry out mass changes efficiently. Thanks to automated workflows and an improved authorization concept, all relevant departments are now involved in the maintenance process. This has reduced errors and streamlined the entire creation process. It is particularly helpful that all important information is visible on one screen, which considerably reduces the workload.
SKF Marine plans to further expand the APICON Data Master. The next major step will be the replacement of an old, self-developed tool for the material system, which is currently still running in parallel. In addition, the Data Master will also be used for other data objects such as business partners and condition maintenance in order to optimize and automate further processes.
SKF Marine, a medium-sized company with over 400 employees, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of shipbuilding components such as fin stabilizers, stern tube seals and water-lubricated stern tube bearings. The company, headquartered in the port of Hamburg, is part of the shipbuilding division of the Swedish SKF Group.
"I didn't find it difficult to get to grips with APICON Data Master and I enjoy the fact that I can ask someone whenever I encounter a problem. It is much easier to administer than comparable solutions from other providers and I wouldn't want to be without it."
